ASSEMBLY CHOPPER SHOW PT.1
This year saw the first ever Assembly Chopper Show, held in the House of Vans London. Organised by Dice Magazine and The Great Frog, it promised to be the biggest and best display of traditional choppers in the UK ever put on. Could it live up to the hype?
To whet our appetite’s, the organisers put
on a photography exhibition in the main tunnel the week before hand. We jumped on the train from Brighton and
headed up to the opening party to check it out, on display were a selection of
prints from fellow photographers, Scott Pommier, Troy Critchlow, James A Grant,
Josie Perez and Larry Niehues.
Many of the images I had seen before but
only on-line or in magazines, it always great to see others work in full print,
adding another dimension to the work that you can only see at this scale. Many of the images on display were classic
shots that have help inspire countless people across the globe!
I took my time to fully immerse myself in
the work before grabbing a few snaps, a few drinks and a catch up with familiar
faces. On display alongside the
photography was a selection of historic rings from The Great Frog juxtaposed
against iconic rock photographs from Ross Halfin, along with a recreation of
the Great Frog workshop. The evening
also gave chance to check out the rest of the House of Vans and imagine how it
would look in a weeks time full of some of the best choppers from around the
UK, Europe and some special guests from the USA!
